Situation
Future Payments rents out card terminals and card readers to practices, restaurants, retailers and hotels across Germany and looks after its customers personally from Hamburg. Anyone looking for a terminal mainly compares costs: rental, transaction fees, contract term.
The challenge
Card payment is a market full of flat-rate promises. For a business, it is hard to tell what an offer will really cost in the end. The website had to answer that question before anyone picks up the phone, while still leading to a personal consultation.
Approach
Instead of a price list, every visitor gets an entry point that fits their situation. Right above the fold there are two paths: “I already accept cards: check costs” and “I’m starting out: find a terminal”.
- Cost check: a non-binding sample calculation for your own business, without contact details.
- Fee check: businesses upload their current statement and receive a clear assessment of rental, transaction costs and contract term.
- Savings calculator: shows what current card payments cost.
- POS system configurator: puts together a solution with payment terms by industry.
These calculators are the actual lead journey. They give the sales team enquiries that already include the industry, number of devices and revenue. How we build journeys like this is described under Funnel development.
Around the calculators, a page structure for search has grown: pages for each industry (medical practices, retail, hotels, taxi companies, restaurants, veterinary practices), for each device type and model, solutions such as online payment or DCC, plus guides, a glossary and FAQ. Individual devices such as the CCV Base Next, the CCV Plus Mobile A960 or the Ingenico AXIUM DX8000 have their own model pages. For existing customers there is help, FAQ and a page on current outages, so nobody ends up in a phone queue just to find out whether a network operator is having problems. The design is deliberately calm so that figures and fees stay readable. More under Web design.
Result
The website does the maths on card payments instead of advertising them. Prospects see their costs before they get in touch and arrive at the consultation with a specific question. The fee check accepts the current statement directly as a file, so the consultation starts with real figures.
