Maintenance & hosting
Website maintenance that keeps your site secure and fast.
Website maintenance means: we keep your website technically up to date, back it up regularly, monitor availability and security and host it if you wish. This applies to WordPress sites just as much as to websites built with Astro or Next.js. Maintenance and hosting are available from €129 per month.

Help in an emergency
If the site goes down or is attacked, we restore it from the backup and close the vulnerability.
Why a website needs maintenance
A website needs maintenance because software, browsers and attacks are constantly changing. WordPress, themes and plugins receive regular updates, often to close security vulnerabilities. If they are left uninstalled, the site becomes vulnerable. If they are installed without testing, an update can break the layout or the contact form.
On top of that, some things deteriorate gradually: the database grows, images get bigger, plugins pile up, the site gets slower. You often only notice when enquiries dry up or Google rates the site lower.
What happens when nobody maintains it
Without maintenance, nothing happens for a long time and then everything happens at once. Typical consequences of neglected websites: a plugin with a known security vulnerability is exploited and the site spreads spam or redirects visitors. The SSL certificate expires and browsers warn people about your site. A delayed update to a new PHP version takes the site down. Or the contact form hasn’t sent any emails for weeks without anyone noticing.
Each of these cases costs more time and money than regular care, not to mention lost enquiries. Then there is trust: anyone who sees a security warning on your site rarely comes back.
What we do as part of maintenance
As part of maintenance we take care of everything that keeps your website technically healthy:
- Updates: WordPress core, plugins and themes, checked for compatibility.
- Backups: regular backups, stored separately from the website, so a clean version is ready in an emergency.
- Security: monitoring for malicious code and suspicious access, strong logins, tidy user roles.
- Availability: uptime monitoring, management of the SSL certificate.
- Performance: cache, database optimisation, loading time checks.
- Clean-up: removing unused plugins, finding broken links, deleting spam comments, checking error logs.
WordPress maintenance: what matters
With WordPress, the plugins matter most. Most security problems are caused by outdated or poorly maintained extensions, not by WordPress itself. That is why our maintenance includes a regular plugin check: what is still needed, what is still maintained, what can go?
The guide WordPress security describes which additional measures help, from two-factor login to backups. If your WordPress site stays slow despite maintenance, or maintenance costs more than it delivers, a relaunch onto leaner technology can be the better solution.
Hosting: what you get
Our hosting for WordPress websites runs with a German provider that has data centres in Germany. It includes an SSL certificate, current PHP versions, caching and automatic backups. For websites built with Astro or Next.js we use platforms that deliver pages via a worldwide network of servers and therefore load particularly fast.
The advantage for you: hosting and maintenance are in one pair of hands. If something doesn’t work, there is no debate between host and agency about who is responsible.
If you would like to keep your hosting, that is possible too. We then maintain the site with your existing provider, provided we get the necessary access. A move is mainly worthwhile if your current package is slow, doesn’t offer current PHP versions or lacks backups.
Maintenance for Astro and Next.js sites
Modern websites built with Astro or Next.js need less maintenance than WordPress, but not none. There are no plugins with monthly updates and, if the site is static, no database that can be attacked. Dependencies in the code, forms, integrations, domain and hosting still need to be maintained. And someone should notice if a form suddenly stops sending enquiries.
Who maintenance is worth it for
Maintenance is worth it for every business whose website brings in enquiries or revenue. The more important the site is for your business, the more expensive every outage becomes. It is particularly important for WordPress sites with many plugins, for sites with forms, bookings or a shop, and for sites that nobody in the company looks after technically.
It is less urgent for a simple static site that rarely changes. Even then, someone should keep an eye on the domain, hosting and forms.
What maintenance and hosting cost
Maintenance and hosting start at €129 per month. The exact price depends on the size of the website, the number of plugins and whether hosting is included. If your site should also perform better on Google, maintenance can be combined with technical SEO. If you want to know what state your website is in right now: Book an intro call.
FAQ
Questions about Maintenance & hosting
What is included in the price?
From €129 per month, updates, backups, security and availability monitoring and hosting are included. Backups run weekly, and 60 minutes for small changes to text and images are included every month.
How long does the maintenance contract run?
Maintenance can be cancelled monthly, with no minimum term.
Do you also look after websites you didn't build?
Yes. We do a technical check first. If the site has fundamental problems, we tell you openly before we take over maintenance.
What happens if my website gets hacked?
We restore the site from a clean backup, find the cause and close the vulnerability. Regular updates and monitoring reduce the risk significantly, but nobody can rule it out completely.
Does an Astro website need maintenance at all?
Less than WordPress, but not none. There are no plugins that need updates, but hosting, domain, forms, integrations and dependencies in the code still need to be looked after and monitored.
