When is custom software worth it?
Custom software is worth it when an off-the-shelf solution can only map your workflow through workarounds, and those workarounds cost time or customers every day. Typical signs: staff copy data between Excel, email and CRM. Customers send documents by email that someone enters by hand. A quote takes days because prices are pieced together from three spreadsheets. Or your business idea needs a platform that you cannot buy off the shelf.
Not every problem needs its own software. Sometimes an automation between existing tools is enough. We clarify this in the workshop, before a single line of code is written.
What we develop
We develop software that runs in the browser and is connected to your website and your systems:
- Web apps and SaaS: applications with login, user roles and a database, from internal tools to your own product. More under Web app development.
- Calculators and online sign-up flows: plan selection, price calculators, configurators and online sign-up that pre-qualify enquiries or close the deal directly. More under Funnel development.
- Portals and marketplaces: customer areas, partner portals and platforms where several sides come together.
- Backends and integrations: databases, admin interfaces and APIs that connect your website with CRM, email, payment providers or partners.
- Automation and AI: recurring processes that run without manual work. More under AI consulting.
Example: Dogcare24
Dogcare24 shows how software, website and SEO work together. Dogcare24 brokers Barmenia’s dog health insurance. The website is built with Next.js and runs on Vercel. The site includes a plan selection and an online sign-up, plus many guide pages on breeds, costs and cover that bring in visitors via Google.
According to Search Console, clicks from Google rose from 8,627 in April 2025 to 29,528 in March 2026. Almost 50 leads per day now come from organic search (as of October 2026), more than twice as many as in December 2025. That is not down to technology alone, but to the fact that the online sign-up flow and the content were planned together from the start.
Software and SEO under one roof
Software and SEO under one roof means: whoever builds your application thinks from the start about how people will find it. Many software houses deliver a working application, and then someone else has to take care of the website and visibility on Google. Many SEO agencies cannot build backends. With us, both are one project.
In practice this means: the public pages of your application are built so that Google can read them. Landing pages and guides lead visitors into the application. And tracking shows which search query ultimately led to a conversion.
For you, it also means one point of contact instead of three providers who pass the responsibility back and forth. If an enquiry does not arrive in the CRM, a page does not rank or a calculator shows the wrong values, there is no debate about who is responsible.
What we need from you
For a good software project, we mainly need access to the people who run the workflow today. The best specification does not come out of a meeting room, but from seeing how someone handles an enquiry, writes a quote or transfers data.
It also helps us to have:
- One person who decides: when questions come up, someone needs to give an answer within a few days.
- Sample data: real records, anonymised if you prefer, so we can test with realistic cases.
- Access to your systems: CRM, accounting, email or partner interfaces that the software will connect to.
- Time for testing: after each stage you try out the current version. This feedback determines the quality at the end.
How your project stays on budget
Your project stays on budget when the first step is small and usable. We start with the part that solves the biggest problem and build on it in stages. Each stage ends with something you can test in the browser. That way you see early on whether the direction is right, and decide what comes next based on real experience.
What we avoid: months-long concept phases without results, features built just in case, and technology that only we understand. The code should be written so that other developers can work with it too.
What software development costs with us
Software projects start at €5,000. How much more is needed depends on user roles, views, integrations and data volumes. After the workshop you get a quote with a clearly described scope for each stage. If you wish, we take over operation after launch.
We are based in Hanau, Germany, and work for companies in Germany and worldwide. If you have a workflow that calls for its own software: Book an intro call.
