We win links from clients, partners, industry portals, local media and through content that people like to cite, for example calculators or studies. What off-page SEO is

Off-page SEO covers everything that happens outside your website and affects your visibility: above all links from other websites, plus mentions of your brand, reviews and profiles. For Google, a link is a recommendation. The more relevant and trustworthy the linking page, the more it counts. Why that is, we explain in the guide Why backlinks matter.

Why a high Domain Rating can be misleading

Values such as Domain Rating or Domain Authority come from SEO tools and count all links, including automatically generated spam. Many websites receive links from link farms that link to millions of domains, without anyone having done anything for it. The value rises, the rankings do not. That is why we do not just check the number, but every referring domain individually: is it genuine, does it fit by topic, does it have visitors of its own?

Clients and partners. People who work with you are often happy to link to you, for example in their legal notice, on a partner page or in a case study. This is the most obvious source and the one most often forgotten.

Industry portals and directories. Some portals rank for your customers’ search queries themselves. A well-maintained profile there brings visibility and a link at the same time. More under industry directories.

Linkable content. Calculators, checklists and original data analyses get cited because they save others work. How we build this kind of content with AI tools is shown in the guide Linkbait with AI tools.

Media and specialist articles. Local newspapers, trade magazines and podcasts look for expert knowledge. A good contribution brings a link, a mention and trust.

Local sources. For businesses with a regional focus, chambers, clubs and local partners count, see local SEO.

Not every link is worth the same. Before we put effort into a source, we check four questions. Does the website fit you by topic or region? Does it have real visitors from Google itself? Is the link in an editorial context, that is, in the text where a reader would actually click it? And does the site link only to selected destinations, or to anyone who pays? A link that passes all four questions is worth more than twenty from directories without visitors.

What we do not do

We do not buy link packages, we do not run our own link networks and we do not distribute guest articles en masse. Links like these are either ineffective or a risk. If you have bought links in the past, we tell you honestly whether disavowing them is necessary.

Link building is an ongoing task and works with a delay. Profiles on industry portals and links from clients can be put in place in the first few weeks. Links through specialist articles, media and linkable content take longer, because they require preparation and coordination with other editorial teams. How strongly new links affect rankings depends on how good the linked page is in itself.

Links have the strongest effect on pages that convince in terms of content and technology. That is why we combine link building with content SEO and ongoing SEO support. For visibility in AI answers, mentions on trustworthy sites count as well, see AI SEO.

FAQ

Questions about Link building

Do you buy links?

No. Bought links violate Google's guidelines and can lead to penalties. We win links through relationships, profiles and content.

How many links will I get per month?

That depends on your industry and starting point. We do not commit to a fixed number, because a few good links achieve more than many weak ones. In the report you see every new link with its source.

Our domain has a high Domain Rating. Isn't that enough?

Metrics such as Domain Rating come from SEO tools, not from Google. If a large share of the referring domains is spam, the value says little about your real strength. We look at the individual links.

Do I need to disavow spam links?

Mostly not. Google ignores most spam links automatically. We recommend a disavow file if links were bought or there is a manual action in Search Console.
